“We all have struggles in this life - physical, mental, emotional, or spiritual. So why does it seem we live in a society built on shaming human struggle? Let’s learn to choose LOVE (soul) over fear and judgement, because we all deserve a safe place to share, cry, and be vulnerable. But if you can’t find that place outside you, there is a place within - I call it ‘HOME’ - Home is Within You.” - Nadia Davis (Priya Bachan Kaur)

On her podcast, HOME IS WITHIN YOU, Transforming Shame into Power, Nadia Davis and guests drag shame out of the shadows so we are better able to recognize it, how it harms us, and how we can ultimately TRANSFORM SHAME INTO POWER!

Home is Within You, A Memoir of Recovery and Redemption, tells Nadia Davis’ courageous journey of trauma and addiction recovery while breaking free from the choking grasp of shame. Author’s Note

Beloveds,

Here you can find a safe, judgment-free space where together, we work to ban all shame.

My road to recovery from trauma and addiction was long and arduous. It includes treatment, jail, hospitalizations, being in the “system,” and public shaming. Layers of internal and external sources of shame kept me in the dark, alone and afraid. I would have long periods of stability and sobriety. However, something would get triggered, and I’d find myself “running to stand still” all over again.

I did not yet know that only ONE TRUTH matters: We are all infinite beings, whole, perfect, and complete. Our true selves are beyond this finite world, while our physical mind is survivalist in nature. We need its protective mode, yet when unchecked, it can so quickly, subtly go haywire with attack thoughts on self and others.

I struggled for so long, unaware of the basic functioning of my brain. While I desperately wanted sobriety and stability, emotional, mental, and psychological blocks resulted in relapses and added layers of wreckage. It wasn’t until I created a “home within me” free of those attack thoughts that I was able to find freedom. By connecting to that home within me daily, I can live in my truth and purpose, helping others achieve the same.

Fear and judgment sadly run rampant in and around the lives of those struggling with mental health and addiction. But we have a daily choice: Fear and judgment … or love.

By choosing love, we can ban our shame. By choosing love, we can stand up against those creating it in others.

With respect and gratitude,

Nadia
